Let me explain something: The controller straps and there, so that the controller is near your hand and you don’t have to hold it while not playing. It is not there, so that you can release your grip from the controller while moving your hand at high-speed – relying on the strap to save your ornaments or TV from being smashed.

There has been safety information up on the Nintendo Web site since before the Wii was released, saying that you need to retain grip of the controller itself… Well, duh!
