Islamophobia? Surely not! – For f*ck’s sake! It’s just a turban!

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

With pictures of Barack Obama being dressed in a turban circulating the media at the moment, I feel I have to mention something…

The turban is not Muslim wear. In fact that his father is from Kenya, the photo was taken in Kenya – and that the dress he was wearing – was tribal wear.

The turban is mostly worn by (I believe) Sikh males. America has quite a few people who are under-educated and who will see this as one of Obama’s ‘links’ to terrorism. I wonder why the renewed media frenzy is happening right now? Maybe we should ask Hillary.

So, now that I’ve said that, let’s not forget to mention that every world leader wears non-western dress when visiting non-western locations. Search Google for the name of anyone and the words “silly hat” – you’ll see some interesting images!

Just for the sake of levelling the playing field, here’s a photo of Hillary wearing something non-western – and *shock* – is Hillary a ‘commie’!?

What a surprise! More Muslim weirdness…

Friday, November 30th, 2007

Source: Sky News.

“Imprisoning this lady does not satisfy the thirst of Muslims in Sudan,” said the cleric, Abdul-Jalil Nazeer al-Karouri, a well known hard-liner.

Addressing worshippers, he added: “But we welcome imprisonment and expulsion.

“This is an arrogant woman who came to our country, cashing her salary in dollars, teaching our children hatred of our Prophet Muhammad.”

You absolute fool. The children who named that Teddy Bear Muhammad did so because they love him, all this teacher did was fail to crush that child’s needs like you would have.

Of course the people asking for this woman to be shot for her crimes (!!!) were not mainstream Muslims… But, as always, they were loud enough to be heard damaging the image of Islam throughout the CIVILISED world – again – just what Islam needed.

This is why people think every Muslim is crazy…

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

Of course, not every Muslim is crazy – but stereotypes are often true… If I am walking through the city of Chicago and see someone who looks like a bum ahead of me, I make a judgment based on how they look – and I’m very rarely wrong (that person will usually ask for money – while wearing clothing often a lot better than I can afford).

If I am hearing, reading, seeing story after story about ‘ordinary Muslims’ crowding the streets, burning effigies, burning flags, shouting and screaming, trashing buildings, attacking people and doing things like putting bounties on the head of cartoonists (sigh), I of course think something along the lines of: “They’re crazy.” Not every Muslim is the same – but it seems as though it was ‘ordinary Muslims’ out in the streets attacking, destroying, burning and baiting on those cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed!

Islam is not a bad religion, like Judaism and Christianity it follows a shared deity and each of the three religions is an extension of the same story. Although Christianity has been the bringer of awful things in the past and some of the Pope’s in history could be compared to Osama bin Laden – it has changed… Whenever people wanted to praise God in a different way, Christianity split to form a new Church and Christianity has evolved with the ages. The Bible is also written largely as a story, the reader is for the most part never given any commands, but the characters within the book are, so over the ages interpretation has allowed people to choose which character they wish society to follow, what virtues of good they wish to pull from the book and what acts they wish to replicate. From what little I have read of the Quran (I have a relative who is a Muslim), it seems to be written more as a list of commands on how to live your life. It is written by the writer, for the reader – totally different to the Bible. To take the most extreme example: This means that unless you choose to place the commands telling you not to kill above those telling you to kill, the Quran is telling you, the reader, to kill (in it’s most extreme).

I do remember being told by someone as a child that saying “God” was bad, but it didn’t stop me. If I hit my thumb with a hammer, damn-right I’m going to say something and I was sure that a strong, powerful God would deal with me however he sees fit when my life ends, hmm? Do the people of any faith really believe that God is so weak that he needs mere humans to defend him? I’m sure God can defend himself.

The cartoons were offensive to Muslims and indeed they should have been, but the culprit is not the cartoonist…

Al Qaeda are the ones who hi-jacked Islam and used it. They are the ones who look at the Quran and find passages to justify their way of being without showing you the passages that most ordinary Muslims see saying that what Al Qaeda do is wrong… They are the ones who associated your Phophet, your religion, your countries, your men, women and even your children with death and bombs… They drew that cartoon.

New message to come from Osama bin Laden – eventually…

Friday, September 7th, 2007

An “Islamist Web site” (whatever the hell that’s meant to mean) has announced it has a tape of Osama bin Laden and will release it for the 6th anniversary of the 2001 attacks. As a British man who lives in America’s second city, Chicago, I find this an example of our stupidly idiotic world…

What does this tape say? Can you imagine if it’s another gloating message saying “We attacked you today (September, 2007) because of…” and if it mentioned the city to be attacked?

Now I know a lot of you don’t know me, but do I deserve to die? Does my wife deserve to die? We both live in the city and my wife works at the foot of the second tallest building in the city, if they attacked this city in a way that brought down buildings, like they did with New York back in 2001, would we make it out? We don’t know.

We’re just trying to live our lives. We’re in love. We want to spend the rest of our lives together, have kids, settle down and retire somewhere quiet – all that good stuff. Don’t we deserve our right to life? Those fools don’t care who they kill, even if they did their way of attack back in 2001 didn’t exactly seem an exact attack method! They don’t care who or what is “collateral damage.”

For this Web site to keep the video, like it’s some kind of product to be marketed, is disgusting. Or are they keeping it so that it can be released to co-incide with new attacks this September 11th?

It is my mothers Birthday on September 11th and back in 2001 I lived in Northern Ireland, scene of many horrific deaths. I watched in horror, feeling absolute anger as the Twin Towers burnt and fell. Hopefully my mother can have a good birthday this year and hopefully nobody will be murdered by the fools who have not only hi-jacked planes but have also hi-jacked the Islamic faith, using it as an excuse, as an avenue to take-over fragile minds, as a “reason.”

Let me tell you something: There is no reason to do what you do and if you think what you do will give you your Heaven – you’re wrong. You are doing evil and you will be punished by your God.

This isn’t about Iraq, this isn’t about any Government – this is about evil people. If you cannot understand that, then imagine the person you care most about in this world – dead – because of these people. Now try putting the query of “Why?” to their death. No answer to “Why?” is good enough to justify their death, is it!?

Some Educational Reading…

“Whoever kills an innocent soul.. it is as if he killed the whole of mankind, And whoever saves one, it is as if he saved the whole of mankind.” – The Holy Quran.

The group who took out newspaper adverts in the UK, condemning the attacks on the UK recently have setup a Web site. While I actually will admit holding a lot of anger and fear towards Islamic faith, I do understand them better when something like this is setup: Muslim’s United.

Does it matter? Invasion of privacy? Pah!

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

I really don’t understand why there is such worry over American security services asking for lots of information?

It’s really very easy to support the invasion of privacy argument, but I personally don’t care – I’m not a terrorist. If someone’s fingerprints were on a fragment of a bomb in Iraq or on a book in an Afghan training camp and U.S. security saw that when they enter the country, that’s fantastic! If a passenger’s credit card had been used to fund terrorism directly, or indeed if they were a wanted terrorist, and the information they were forced to provide enabled their capture, that’s fantastic!

There is a threat to the “Western” world right now from a small number of individuals who have hijacked the Muslim faith. As much as I’d like to see Muslim’s pushing those extremist scum from their Mosque’s, I also want to see the security forces of the world with the information to capture those who would attempt to kill me as I walked in a public place or flew across the Atlantic Ocean. So I say to those “invasion of privacy” preachers that this is not George Orwell’s 1984, this is Tim Wheatley’s 2007 and to be defensive over information that is used to protect you is just plain stupid… Next you’ll be telling me the meaning of life is forty-two.

Powerful Political Blogs

Monday, March 26th, 2007

I simply cannot believe how powerful some of the entries in this blog are. It is an extremely educational look at life in the Middle East.

Most of what is said, I do have to agree with, it seems the writer has well balanced views and expresses them with intelligence.

Going from that blog, I found myself at the American Islamic Congress before clicking a link to this speech transcript.

I think it is very important that people (of every faith) read that speech, but it is a little worrying as this is obviously a Muslim who tells how things really are within a Mosque, that the Mosque leaders wish to give the Muslim children no other avenue but that which Iran wants.

It’s amusing to me that Iran recently commented that the movie “300″ was an attack on their history… Why is it that Iran seem to be wanting to use Islam to do their present day attacking?

135 die in single blast in Iraq

Saturday, February 3rd, 2007

I have always said, to kill one is as bad as killing many, this strange notion we have that killing more people is a worse thing I don’t really understand… The taking of life is the worst thing you can possible do, for me it’s as simple as that.

While I have said that, I simply can’t believe that a HUMAN BEING would do something such as this, to drive a truck, laden with explosives, purposely killing as many people as possible.

You can bet your life that this person will state that their belief in God is what gave them the strength to do this, you can bet that this person thinks they did what they were meant to do with their life.

I think there must be some sort of Mental Illness that these people develop after the “brainwashing” they are subject to at the Mosque’s they visit. I still find it amazing that the “PC Crowd” are still wary of saying that this is a problem with Muslim’s specifically… How many suicide bombers are from other religions? With Iraq, it almost seems like there are almost as many nutcases waiting to explode as there are innocent victims.

The Muslim’s out there who do not want their religion associated with fear, hatred, death, destruction, blood, killing, murder, extremism and many other negative connotations, need to take action, they need to stop these Mosque’s and these preacher’s who are doing the brainwashing. My first thought on the Muslim religion is one I am sure most Muslim’s would not want me to have, that is a shame.

First Muslim in Congress

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

The first Muslim is to be sworn into congress on Thursday. Rather than swearing with his hand on a bible, he will have his hand on a copy of the Qur’an… I find this perfectly acceptable, he is after all swearing to the same God, isn’t he? What’s the difference? In my opinion it’d be worse for an Atheist to “swear unto God”… As it wouldn’t mean anything if he broke his vows, would it?

The cool thing is, the Qur’an being used belonged to one of the founding fathers of the United States (Jefferson), someone who tried to understand other cultures and wanted the USA to accept all – which in many, many ways it does. I have to admit, the USA is a more religious and culturally tolerant country than the UK… I never thought I’d say that.
