I post a number of photography related things, you can view them in the photography category. Photos are uploaded to my flickr account.

Photography is very important to me now. It is a reason to take a walk, a reason to look at my fish tanks and a reason to play with Suzie (as if I needed more reasons than her smile!) It is a massive part of my life, it even led me to find my wife.

I knew nothing about photography until I attended College (1995-1997), and as a part of my Media Studies we were required to learn about framing, exposure, etc. Of course I immediately forgot most of what I learned, and didn’t use any of the skills for eight years.

I got my first ‘real’ camera (Fujifilm Finepix s7000) in 2005. It was a point-and-shoot, but had good options for fully manual settings and it allowed me to learn and re-learn everything I would need going forward. It actually held it’s value well enough that I was able to sell it on eBay when I was done with it.

A1 Grand Prix at Brands Hatch. This was the first event I took the Fujifilm s7000 to and I was able to refresh my memory regarding panning with moving objects, pre-focussing, etc. - September, 2005.

In 2006, while still getting into the hobby, I contacted a woman on MySpace to ask about low-light photography. She was a concert/band photographer and obviously was very good in those conditions…

…after talking for a while one thing led to another, that photographer is now my wife and the mother of our child. I got experience with her Canon cameras and obviously living in the USA, I had some good subjects for photos.

In 2010 my wife bought me a Nikon camera for my birthday that I could use at the 2010 Indy 500, and that has been my camera ever since…
