For those reading who may not know, iRacing time trials are single car competitions which run on the track being raced each week. You have to do a series of laps without error and it’s your average laptime that goes forward as your final result. Points are then calculated as the week goes along so that the fastest car overall gets 100 points and the slowest gets 1 point, if you are exactly between those two in time you would get 50 points.

I missed weeks four and five due to how busy I was with work. Still, I found myself in contention when I returned and managed to carry that through Week 6, 7 and 8. Ending the week I had to rush through these time trials and really didn’t perform as good as I have in the past. Still, here is where I stand in this week’s results:

Series Track Time Pts Div Pos Overall Pos
Skip Barber Race Series Zandvoort No Time 0 - -
Spec Racer Ford Challenge Lime Rock 1:02.887 75 3rd 25th
NASCAR Class A Indianapolis 54.696 52 1st 13th
NASCAR Class B (NW) Milwaukee 30.768 43 6th 51st
NASCAR Class C (Trucks) Milwaukee 31.442 48 5th 66th
Silver Crown Cup Chicagoland 30.267 74 2nd 14th
SK Modified Series Phoenix 28.628 69 1st 26th
Late Model Tour Milwaukee 32.470 66 2nd 65th
Advanced Legends Cup South Boston 17.577 89 1st 16th

I had no time to learn Zandvoort and get a time in the Skip Barber Formula 2000. Although I know the track I couldn’t start lapping it fast without error so decided to skip the week. I feel like this (and the fact I won’t have the time to test on any of the other remaining tracks) will stop me from being able to get a top-three in either of the road racing divisions. I am having continued success in the ovals though, even though I was rushed. My best performance this week was probably the Class A at Indianapolis. I wasn’t particularly fast, but Indy is such a tough oval as you really feel like you’re threading the needle to make it without touching the walls…

Going into Week 9 I am in the top-two for every oval division and look pretty good. My only concern is that I am still two weeks behind in most of them and although this may give me an opportunity to leap ahead, it also may give someone I didn’t think was in contention a chance to surprise me and take away a position. I really think I can finish in the top-three for every oval division though, and that’s going to be really cool if I can pull it off.

Again I’m still looking forward to Week 9, it’s going to be interesting to see how the points start to adjust with people beginning to drop their worst scoring weeks. I, of course, will be gaining two full weeks because I only have scored six out of eight anyway.

Here is the points as they stand at time of posting, close to ending Week 8:

Series Pts Div Pos Overall Pos
Skip Barber Race Series (3 weeks behind) 266 6th 58th
Spec Racer Ford Challenge (2 weeks behind) 254 8th 45th

NASCAR Class B (NW) (2 weeks behind) 304 2nd 28th
NASCAR Class C (Trucks) (2 weeks behind) 391 1st 32nd
Silver Crown Cup (2 weeks behind) 383 1st 10th
SK Modified Series (2 weeks behind) 415 1st 25th
