The only parallel unfortunately, is the Great Depression. Then, men were pleased of of jobs doing what convicts might would rebel at today, and families were pleased of food.
Individual expectations are so high. So much wealth has been based upon debt – money created by the the simple act of applying for unsecured loans.
In the 1930′s the USA had so much potential, investment in infrastructure could be banked on for future growth of the nation. Even the many deaths in the building of the Hoover Dam could be written off as the cost of nation building.
I don’t see anyone really describing the economy of the future and how we get there – not yet. The danger is vast sums spent on a fire-break which might not hold.
No good news yet!
