Sorry about constantly messing with the layout... I just nearly got done and they released an update to the software...

Call of Duty 4 is Awesome!

When I first read that the next Call of Duty would be tackling Modern Warfare, I was pretty excited. With most ‘first-person-shooters’ you find yourself feeling like you won the war all by yourself and with COD that was never a problem. In their previous games (all set in World War II) you were one of many and you got the feeling that if you weren’t there, the war would have carried on. Of course the way they programmed it, where you were required to walk to certain areas or detonate explosives on certain things for the A.I. soldiers to advance was noticable at times. That same problem still exists in COD4, but the gameplay and the challenge posed by the game (even on ‘regular’ difficulty) is enormous, you do again feel like one soldier among many and I absolutely love that feeling of being able to occasionally not be the guy who kicks down the door!

I am nowhere near to completing the game yet, but thought I would upload a video of a mission I liked quite a bit. In this mission you have some ground units (British SAS) who are escorting a Russian informant to safety. You see me doing all the shooting, all the camera/sight movements and all the weapon selection. I do get very close to shooting my own men quite a few times and actually this kind of game gives me way more respect for the armed forces and accept that sometimes it’s probably very easy to commit a Friendly Fire incident (something I’ve posted angrily about in the past).
