Sorry about constantly messing with the layout... I just nearly got done and they released an update to the software...

Are Streamline.net the Worst Host Ever?

Here is an email I got this morning from Streamline.net’s billing department:

We tried to renew your additional hosting account (photodatabase.org), however there is a slight problem. We tried to renew your hosting account but your credit card was not authorised.

The reason for this can be for many different reasons of which the main 2 we encounter are:

1) Your card has expired.
2) Your card details have changed since you signed up with us.

The required payment is: 11.73 (including VAT)

So, they talk about two domains: timwheatley.org.uk and photodatabase.org.

timwheatley.org.uk - I sent a support ticket to Streamline.net on 25th August, 2007 telling them that I did not want to renew the domain.

They replied shortly afterwards with:

Please reply and advise what action you would like us to take? Please ensure that in either case you have made backups of your website and hosting space.

I replied with:

I have made backups, please delete all content on the web space and let the domain expire, I no longer require it.

They shut down the domain and replied with:

This account has now been cancelled for you.

Yet today, September 14th, Streamline see fit to try to bill me for a domain that they do not even have active or control.

photodatabase.org - This domain was moved from Streamline.net’s hosting, to Bluehost (one of WordPress.org’s recommended hosts) around December 2nd, 2006.

Yet today, September 14th, Streamline see fit to try to bill me for a domain that they do not even have active or control.

You know, it’s funny, I left Streamline’s hosting because their customer service seemed bad and they struggled far too much to host a simple installation of a retail script (vBulletin), but I did not expect their delusional business-model to keep chasing me after I was long gone. I’d say it’s a good job that I do not own the credit card they attempted to bill anymore, huh?

God, I wish Id read comments like yours before I chose Streamline. I have been dogged with problems since I went with them. My site still isnt published and I cant upload anymore files to them. They are absolutley useless. A complete waste of money.

I completely agree: from their stupid support tickets, which don’t ever go into enough details.

I must have sent them about 20 tickets to try and get our blog alligned, but they are a absolute joke…

Think it’s time I washed my hands of it all…

    My worst host ever: spry.com.

Signed up for several months VPS hosting, never got hosted even 1 DAY. No help, no support, no refund.

But at least they were kind enough to email me that my financial info was possibly stolen.

    Sir,

Anyone who risks losing the many rewards available from honestly competent endeavour by simpleminded petty theft ought seriously to rethink and re-evaluate the real worth of their conviction of their ‘cleverness’ which has led them into such a sorry situation, an act and situation available at any time to any vagrant or vagabond - or fool!

You cannot see the wood for the blindfingly clever trees, can you?

    Sad.

    Sincerely

    Sir,

You have ignored the opportunity generously given (below) to enable your return money you obtained, it is now evident, by deception, and consequently your refusal to do the right thing means I will now pursue you for financial redress and relief from the distress caused by theft of my pension.

    Sincerely

    Sir,

    Re : 3 month trial , domain ‘executivetaxfreelumpsum.com’ hosted by Streamline.net

I gave sufficient notice of ending the above 3 month trial to avoid defaulting to payment of the £79.87, that you therefore obtained from my bank account by a fraudulent act - I updated my billing details to the details you used to pursue your fraudulent act, to enable my paying the £8.50 for the 2 year parking fee for the above domain name, in accordance with the price given to me by Streamline.Net and prior to the date of default.

You deliberately avoided applying for the £8.50 = vat + £9.98 (I had £9.99 in the account referred to effect payment - I prompted you several times to so do - until after the default date, and as the means for unjustly claiming the £79.87 default payment.

Regarding any other facile justification for takeing money from my bank account, The Law will not allow itself to be used to substantiate an offence - that is an axiom of jurisprudence you would do well to contemplate.

I offer you until 3.00 today, 15th November, to reply to this email to inform me that you have taken action to ensure restitution of the money you took from my bank account.

If I do not receive a reply to this email from you informing me that you have indeed begun the process that will ensure full restitution I will begin proceedings against you forthwith.

    Sincerely

    Ian T. Hinchey BA

PS The particular account will remain open as long as it takes to receive any payment promised before it is closed for good.
