This was on the US news a lot, with everyone laughing at this silly little man who decided to file a $54M lawsuit over a pair of lost trousers.
I am very, very happy that he has lost, but I can’t help but be concerned that this man is a Judge, he decides what is right and wrong and what punishment people deserve. If this man seriously thought that this dry cleaners deserved to pay him $54M in compensation for his lost trousers, he has no place giving out punishments to anyone.
It says that he has to pay costs, which I hope includes anguish, loss of sleep etc by the Chungs. I suppose that they can counter-sue him now.
I see that “the National Labor Relations Board has called for Mr Pearson to be disbarred so that he can no longer serve as a judge” and I hope that they follow through. This behaviour indicates some mental deficiency, which is bad enough, but as a judge, many people’s lives are in his hands.
