This number (registered in the Cayman Islands) has called me a number of times. When I answered there isn’t a sound on the other end until after some time, the other side hangs up. I’ve heard of this kind of stuff before, so I suspected it was a dialling machine: These dialling machines call out and when a call is answered, put the person on hold until an “agent” is available for the call to be put through to…
On Saturday I took a call from them again and did my usual thing of answering and waiting to see if a human would speak to me, to my surprise after a week or so of silent calls, I heard a foreign accent (possibly Pakistani or Indian) who wanted to talk to me.
I was walking around the house tidying up, so I decided to let the person say what he wanted to say, hoping that he was being paid on commission and would waste his time on me… After over 15 minutes he seemed to have finished his sales talk (all I had said through the entire call was “I see”, “Ok” and “Right”), then he wanted to take my mailing address and banking details. Of course, I chose this moment to explain to him that I had taken a number of calls from his dialler and it had actually quite annoyed me, so I had decided to waste a suitable amount of his time in the hope that he won’t bother calling me again. He hung up.
He said he was calling on behalf of Sprint (a telecommunications company here in the USA), the Caller I.D. said the number was (345)265-7232 and the text from the I.D. was “CAYMAN ISL CALL”.
