In February 2001, Michael Waltrip (in the blue NAPA sponsored #15) won the Daytona 500, Dale Earnhardt Jr. (in the red/white Busweiser sponsored #8) finished second and his father Dale Earnhardt, who was in third place until the last corner of the last lap, died after crashing into the wall of the final corner.
