I just had an experience with Wikipedia. An article I have seen in the past, now has totally bias and untrue information posted on it by another user. I have viewed Wikipedia as a haven for largely factual information until now, but when you consider that anyone, yes anyone, can sign up and edit the information, how can it possibly be factual – it is being edited by humans! This lead me to search on the internet for pages that speak of Wikipedia and it’s incorrect information.
Firstly, I found an article written by a 78 year old man, who was Robert Kennedy’s administrative assistant – and pallbearer. He had had a biography setup on Wikipedia by an unknown individual, who had said the person had lived in Russia and “may have been involved in the JFK assassination”. Can you imagine how this utterly fictional biography made the guy feel?
The creator of Wikipedia says not to trust it…
Don’t trust anything you read on Wikipedia, their disclaimer says it plain and simply – they cannot be held accountable for bias or incorrect information. When you are involved with something featured on there, it’s really easy to spot when incorrect or bias information is written about it – it’s sickening.
If you don’t have factual information to add – don’t add anything.
